"Think of all the rivers of blood, spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot."
Wow. All I could say was wow when I heard this compelling and intelligent piece of information slip through my head. And then when this thought actually processed I recognized the beauty and the petrifying meaning Carl Sagan meant behind this. Us humans fought, slaughtered, battled each other for as long as we lived. Really, the greatest enemies we ever faced was us. Wars, genocides, all these attributives are a major key to one thing; humans, since we are the only ones that caused it. And to think that our greatest leaders killed either the foe or the friend in amounts of metaphorically speaking, rivers of blood just for this fraction of a dot is baffling. So why did we do it? Why did we kill so many, sacrifice so much, just for this pale blue dot? Because this pale blue dot is all we have. And it's true. Just as Carl Sagan preached, this pale blue dot stuck in a vast remote universe is the only thing we have to live with, to love with, and to... exist with. So I could see this planet is worth battling for, worth sacrificing for. And yes this is just a fraction of a dot, yes this is just a pale blue dot. But this is our pale blue dot.

All right, all right. Let's make this intro sweet and simple. I am Ray. Original much? Yeah well I have the honorable privilege of being Raylene's desk- NOT! I mean, this girl named me after her nickname! Okay now let's get to the good stuff. When all is quiet, when the dreadful and insolent students have gone, when the teacher who gave enough lectures to get a sore throat (oh poor Mrs.Nazurchuk ) is vanished, it is officially..... RAY TIME. What is Ray time you ask? Well it's when I talk, think, and do whatever my Ray desk mind wants to do. So let us enter THE RAY TIME!!!!!!!!!
Let's jump into my thoughts first; okay stop. I am the most unluckiest desk in the class, why? WHY YOU ASK? BECAUSE OF SEBASTIAN'S AND HARKIRAT'S DESKS! Like honestly, do these desks (and students ) not know the definition STRAIGHT LINE??? They can't even angle their desks in a straight formation. Boys. Atleast Jenaya and Sania's desk are not as annoying. Speaking of annoying, Tom's desk should get a golden award for that. My other hobbies are interacting with other desks. The ones beside me? No way. The ones in Mrs.While's class? You betcha! "HEY KATELYN'S DESK, CAN YOU HEAR ME??!!" "LOUD AND CLEAR RAYLENE'S DESK!" "YA KNOW THE LATEST GOSSIP GOING AROUND WITH EMILY'S DESK AND CALEB'S DESK?" And so it goes on and on...... After all the fun has evaporated into nothingness since it is the next morning, the same insolent and dreadful students scamper in, the same teacher files in, and it happens all over again... well you get the picture. Oh yeah, before I go, I'd like to request my fellow deskmates to communicate with me in the comments below- and no not for gossiping Jayson's desk! Until next time, farewell dear deskmates. " Is Cole going to be able to change once back in Minneapolis?"
Why would Cole not change? After all he has been through, you would think Cole is ready for a second chance at a better life, and I do beleive he is. Just take a look at the vicious battle between the bear and Cole, when he was almost killed because he chose to use his anger over his wits. From that horrendous experience Cole has learned how important life really is, and must have been feeling guilty for putting Peter on the verge of life. Not only that, Garvy and Edward have done so much to change Cole's understanding of life, like doing all thoses exercises of carrying the ancestor rock, dancing your feelings out, and testing Cole's abbility of how much he really knew of "truly changing". I'm guessing when Cole reflects on all the disparaging things he said and did to people it really does crush and fill him with guilt, however it's not only what he did. Anyone would say Cole is livid with his parents, his councellors, and all people who tried to help him. Well, he's not. He's learned to acknowledge that all those people were there only for him, to help him, and to support him. Cole has took an even bigger step, forgiving his dad even though his dad abused Cole on multiple occasions AND offering to help Peter break out of his suicidal ways. " Is Cole going to be able to change once back in Minneapolis?" YES. Our school felt the need to watch a movie called Cyber Bully, stressing on the importance of dealing with cyber bullying. The movie was about a teenage girl named Taylor Hillridge who gets cyber bullied on a site called Clicksters. In fact, even her friend backstabbes her, and catfishes, bullying Taylor. She then goes into depression, but slowly climbs out of it with the help and support of people around her. After the movie, I felt like I had learned so much more on the dangers of cyber bullying, since it has never happen to me. I also observed some students going in and out of the gym, probably Because it was getting too emotional for them and they too had experienced something like this. I never knew how many people went through this in our school, but now I do. How did they get through it. Are our Classmates still getting bullied? Well whatever the outcome was for them, we all learned a very important lesson: cyber bullying can happen to anyone, anytime. We need to be there to support and stand up for one another in these depressing and helpless times for our friends or family. This movie has changed my entire mindset of bullying, and how serious it can get. Now we all now, to never underestimate what can happen online, and we have also learned the safety precautions we can use in order to be safe online: avoid putting out personal information online- where you live, your phone number, etc. This has been a learning experience for all of us to take in.
This is for Cole's parents. This is for the parents who abandoned Cole, simply because they didn't want to be at Circle Justice for a sincere reason, or not sincere enough. I think Cole's parents were the only people out of all bodies in Circle Justice who really didn't have the heart to stand up and talk freely and proudly of their son. All that was in their hearts were love, hate, and confusion.
Just look at Cole's mother. Ponder on what she said. "I'm here because I really don't know what to do". Huh. She didn't know what to do either when all the controversy started a few years ago. It's as if she doesn't care about Cole, and all Cole ever wanted was to be loved, noticed, and appreciated by his mother and father, and she couldn't have gave him little bit of her love? Well, what can you expect from a mother who wont even go near her child? Both mother and father just kept drinking, and in the middle of all that drinking, was love, hate, and confusion. A father. A father is what a son looks up to. The strong, determined man who is supposed to guide his son in the right direction. Well there must have been a left turn, because any gruesome man like Cole's dad does not deserve to be titled "father". His drinking ways, his abusive ways toward Cole, is this the right direction? I admit, in the depths of their hearts, Cole's parents DO care, but it's simply not enough. Do they see the hell Cole has been going through? And all the boy ever wanted was love from his parents. Instead he got love, hate, and confusion. Cole is a trooper. Getting through these twists and turns of events haven't been easy for him, but with his own way, he manages. If he got that love and support from his parents he would be a totally different person. The boy he always wished he could be. But one thing will never change. Love, hate and confusion. |
